Fraud Management: Configuration

Last updated:October 23, 2026

Draft reviewReview before publishing (remove this box before publishing)

  • iovation is marked internal and must not be used. The only reference is in "Device ID scans" and is marked red. Please also decide whether the three "Collect DeviceId" settings (which enable Device ID scans) may be published.
  • "Enable Full RTR - v2.0" has an incomplete list item ("The Selected Transaction") in the source. It is marked inline. SME to complete.
  • Tieback: the source body string had "¬e=" damaged to "¬e=" (a character-encoding error). I restored it to &note=nt.note. Please confirm.
  • Tieback host URLs and the external CSI URLs are now placeholders, because endpoints cannot be shared in the draft. In the source, the LIVE host link also pointed to the STAGE host. Please check both when you fill them in.
  • Tieback guide: both sheets linked the same guide under two paths (confirmed). I use /sites/default/files/uploads/dl-0305b2c3beed.pdf only. The guide is version 1.5, dated June 2017 (last revision 2 Jan 2018). SME to confirm it is still current.
  • The Integration Sheet shows the tieback body string without "&note=" (it reads "cancelReason=po.cancelCode=nt.note"). I kept the repaired version from the Configuration Sheet. Please confirm.
  • The three screenshots (two "allowed payment methods" screens and the Dynamic 3DS screen) are not shown. They are replaced by references to the Merchant Portal guide. The link /tutorials/mp-guide is temporary and marked inline.
  • The tieback guide file opened without a login on the test portal, so it sits in the public folder. That is fine for a customer-facing guide, but not for the CID (see Field Mappings).
  • Edits: "ACI Fraud Management" is now "Fraud Management", "OPP Field" is now "API field", typos fixed, and the introduction moved to the tutorial. UI field names (for example RIRO, OPP COPYandPAY) are kept as they appear in the product.

Full functionality has been released in production. Connectivity and functional testing have not been performed in the production environment.

This page describes the Fraud Management setup. For flows and parameters, see the integration use cases. For an introduction, see Fraud Management.

Set up the merchant account

The risk connector configuration is at Risk-Management > Risk Checks > Fraud Management > Fraud Management (RE).

For the configuration screens, including the payment methods supported for pre-payment and post-payment risk scans, see the Merchant Portal guide Temporary link: replace with the right section.

For the supported payment brands and whether each supports a pre-scan or a post-scan, see Supported payments and brands.

Dynamic 3D Secure with Fraud Management

Dynamic 3D Secure lets you run 3D Secure conditionally, after the Fraud Management assessment.

When both 3D Secure and Fraud Management risk checks are enabled and Dynamic 3D Secure is disabled (the default), the Fraud Management check runs after the 3D Secure check. When Dynamic 3D Secure is enabled, the Fraud Management check runs first, and 3D Secure runs conditionally, based on the Fraud Management response and the settings below.

If the Fraud Management result is a communication error or a system error, and the check is not configured to reject the transaction in those cases (see Reject on communication error and Reject on system error), 3D Secure is executed.

How to set it up

The settings are at Risk-Management > Risk Checks > Fraud Management > Fraud Management Dynamic 3DS.

For the settings screen, see the Merchant Portal guide Temporary link: replace with the right section.

UI field nameMeaningComments
Activate Dynamic 3D Secure

Enables the Dynamic 3D Secure (with Fraud Management) functionality.

IMPORTANT!

Dynamic will be enabled only when this RIRO configuration is enabled and also when all the following conditions are met:

  • Risk-Management > Risk Checks > External Checks > 3D Secure Settings > Set 3D Secure Type is set to 3D secure

  • Risk-Management > Risk Checks > Fraud Management > Fraud Management (RE) > Activate Fraud Management risk is enabled

Default: FALSE
Execute 3D Secure on Fraud Management Accept responseWhen Dynamic 3D Secure (with Fraud Management) is enabled, always execute 3D Secure if the Fraud Management response is Accept.Default: FALSE
Execute 3D Secure on Fraud Management Challenge response

When Dynamic 3D Secure (with Fraud Management) is enabled, always execute 3D Secure if the Fraud Management response is Challenge.

IMPORTANT!

The Risk-Management > Risk Checks > Fraud Management > Fraud Management (RE) > Reject on challenged is still taken into consideration. This means that if 'Reject on challenged' is set to TRUE, all challenged transactions will be rejected.

Default: FALSE
Execute 3D Secure when Fraud Management RCF code contains "3DS"When Dynamic 3D Secure (with Fraud Management) is enabled, execute 3D Secure if the RCF field from the Fraud Management response contains the "3DS" code.Default: FALSE

Execute 3D Secure on Fraud Management Accept response and Execute 3D Secure on Fraud Management Challenge response take priority over Execute 3D Secure when Fraud Management RCF code contains "3DS" if both are enabled.

Fraud Management tieback

The Secure eCommerce Gateway can consume tieback notifications sent by the Fraud Management Case Manager Portal (CSI). This applies to all transactions that Fraud Management flags as "Challenged" and that are available for review in CSI.

The integration provides:

  • a status update for the risk transaction,
  • a webhook notification to the merchant on each status update, and
  • auto-reversal or auto-refund for the "Approve on Challenge" model.

To configure tieback notifications in CSI, see the Tieback configuration guide (PDF) Guide version 1.5, June 2017: confirm it is current..
